The revisions reflect primarily the result of research sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the continued development of ASHRAE standards related to IAQ,comfort, and refrigerants. The original objective of this book, to produce.an up-to-date,convenient classroom teaching aid based on ASHRAE literature has not changed. It is intended for use by engineering students at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as practicing engineers. Mastery of the material should enable a person to effectively participate in the design of all types of HVAC systems. Basic courses in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and dynamics are desirable prerequisites. There is sufficient material for two-semester length courses with considerable latitude in course makeup.
