An Introduction to Mechanical Engineering By Michael Clifford
Contents:
Unit 1 – Fluid dynamics
Unit 2 – Thermodynamics
Unit 3 – Solid mechanics
Unit 4 – Electromechanical drive systems
Unit 5 – Feedback and control theory
Unit 6 – Structural vibration
Introduction:
This book builds on the experience and knowledge gained from An Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Part 1 and is written for undergraduate engineers and those who teach them. Thes textbooks are not intended to be a replacement for traditional lectures, but like Alice, we see the benefit of having things written down. In this book, we introduce material to supplement the foundational units in Part 1 on solid mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. In addition, the reader will encounter units on control, electromechanical drive systems and structural vibration. This material has been compiled from the authors’ experience of teaching undergraduate engineers, mostly, but not exclusively, at the University of Nottingham. The knowledge contained within this textbook has been derived from lecture notes, research findings and personal experience from within thlecture theatre and tutorial sessions.
